VATSIM Announces new Vice President – Pilot Training

November 5, 2018

VATSIM is pleased to welcome Ethan Hawes to the Board of Governors as our new Vice President of Pilot Training.

Ethan joined VATSIM in 2006 and has spent his time on our network as both a pilot and a controller. A member of the United States Division, he has spent time controlling within the Fort Worth and Indianapolis vARTCCs. He has held numerous staff positions within VATSIM including as an Events Coordinator and Training Administrator.

Ethan brings a wealth of real-world experience to his new role. He holds a US FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with type ratings in the Embraer 170/190 jet and SW-4 turboprop. In addition to flying for a US based regional airline, he also remains current as a Certified Flight Instructor.

Ethan is highly dedicated to helping the aviation workers of tomorrow make connections they need to be successful within the aviation industry. His primary goal is to transform the pilot training and ratings on VATSIM to help better prepare our new members for the challenges of flying on the network though new member education as well as continuing education and development. Ideally, he would like to see a VATSIM where fun can be had for all, but also serve as a bridge connecting those interested in working within the aviation industry and the real-world professionals that can provide guidance, inspiration, and mentorship to the next generation of aviation workers.

Please join us in congratulating Ethan on his new position!
