After loading and configuring Pro Controller you are ready to connect to a server. With version 2.0 and higher of Pro Controller you can connect to any server in a network and been seen by anyone else regardless of what server they are on. With this in mind you should find the server which gives you the best connection. A current list of servers can be found here.
To connect to a server do the following:
- Select File | Connect
- Fill out your personal information
- Select a facility type that best represents the facility you are going to control
- Enter your certificate and password information (if the server you are connecting to requires it)
- Click OK
Pro Controller will then attempt to connect to the server. You may receive any one of numerous error messages at this point. The cause of these errors can range from simply you entered the IP address wrong to you don't have your TCP/IP settings properly configured.
If you receive consistent error messages you may seek help in the AVSIM Squawk Box Forum. There you can post a message explaining what you are doing and what error message you are receiving.
Common reasons for error messages are:
- You tried to use a callsign that is already logged in
- The server you attempted to connect to is down
- You entered the IP address wrong
- Your certificate and/or password is invalid or wrong
- You are using an outdated version of the software
