Join in on our global meeting on May 9th-11th, 2014, in the heart of Europe, Vienna, Austria.

VATSIM is proud to announce that Vienna, Austria has been selected as the venue for the next VATSIM Global Conference (W14). Scheduled to take place 9 - 11 May 2014, the organisers have been able to secure one of Vienna’s premier locations for this conference. The main conference activities will be conducted from the comfort and luxury of the Sky Stage and The Multimedia Stage at the prestigious venue “The Stage”. The Stage offers breathtaking panoramic views, modern architecture, excellent transport connections, state of the art technology equipment and much more.

The conference includes a banquet awards-dinner on Saturday night within the relaxing atmosphere of the Luftburg restaurant. The restaurant Luftburg is situated in the green heart of Vienna’s Prater, alongside its interesting and fun attractions in the historic amusement park. The Luftburg is well known for its traditional Austrian food and depending upon the weather, we may optionally dine outside in the beautiful garden area or indoors within the comfortable confines of the restaurant.

The team behind the organising of this great event have been able to obtain special rates at several of the major hotels in the area, all offering their own level of comfort and service with excellent access to the conference venue. Members wishing to attend the VATSIM Vienna (W14) global conference will need to book their own accommodation, booking forms and web links to suggested hotels can be found on the conference website,
.

The conference ticket includes lunch on Saturday, the Saturday evening banquet, and transport from the Conference venue to the restaurant. While participants will organise their own travel arrangements to/from Vienna, with a 12-month period of advance notice they may benefit from reduced pricing and options typically available through advance purchase discounts. Full information on the conference package and agenda can be found on the conference website
.

VATSIM members are warmly invited to meet new and old acquaintances, to be entertained by lively conference presentations, hear the latest from the Board of Governors, preview some of the newest products from our sponsors, and enjoy much more during the weekend at “W14” ... but most importantly, to join in this unique gathering of friends from our community.

We look forward to meeting everyone in Vienna, let’s bring the hills alive with the sound of aviation simulation!

In November of 2012, the Tri-State area was rocked by a hurricane that destroyed much of the shore that we all know and love. Hardest hit was the Jersey Shore, where many amenities and homes were flattened or fell into the ocean, taking with it the memories of many who visited the parks.

Now, in June of 2013, we look back at the shore, and notice the rebuilding efforts that are underway. New York ARTCC would like to remember these efforts, and the rebuild of the Jersey Shore. The Friday Night Ops will take place on June 21 from 23z-03z, and we invite the VATSIM community to come fly in and out of Newark to show support for the Restore of the Shore

The longer you fly, the longer we provide ATC!

Flexible event time, flexible traffic, flexible air-traffic controllers. Welcome to Stuttgart (EDDS) FlexOPS 2013!

"Stuttgart Flexible Operations" is an unusual project which started two years ago to create a constant traffic flow at
certain airports and events.

The idea: Stuttgart Airport will be manned for two hours initially. As soon as 75% of all slots for flights within these
two hours are booked, the duration of the event will automatically extend and you will be able to book new slots to
keep a high level of saturation.

As you can see, the duration and the length of the event depends on your bookings. This way a dense traffic situation is
guaranteed while still preventing unmanagable masses. We are thus able to provide you with realistic traffic levels and
enjoyment in Stuttgart.

The concept: An event based on slots and with a constantly high level of traffic
Airport: Stuttgart (ICAO: EDDS)
Date: Saturday, 1st of June 2013
Beginning at 1700 UTC with dynamically extendable ending

Slots, charts&sceneries and further information can be found on our event website with booking function:

Come and create with us an unforgettable event.
Time to cross the ditch!

Saturday 18th May 2013 1800 - Sunday 19th May 2013 1400 UTC
Sunday 19th May 2013 0600 - Monday 20th May 2013 0200 NZST
Sunday 19th May 2013 0400 - Monday 20th May 2013 0000 AEST

The temperatures are dropping south of the equator and as thousands of Aussies and Kiwis look to escape the autumnal weather, it's time once again to Cross the Ditch!

Featured for Cross the Ditch 8

Fiji

By popular request we're returning to Nadi, Fiji (NFFN) as part of this season's event. The South Pacific's largest island airport, Nadi features the added challenge of opposite direction operations.

Brisbane

Cross the Ditch is making Brisbane (YBBN) our Australian airport for the first time since CTD1! Serving the largest population centre in Australia's north-eastern state of Queensland, Brisbane Interational Airport is a major regional air hub. In the time since we were last in Brisbane, ORBX has released their stunning Brisbane scenery which adds a whole new level of realism to the airport and surrounding area in FSX.

Auckland

Our New Zealand airport for this cycle is perennial favourite Auckland (NZAA). No stranger to the Cross the Ditch schedule in the past, we've updated the Auckland Guide with more detailed information on ground movements to help simplify taxiing between the terminals and the runway.

What's it all about?

For twenty hours this May, the skies over the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand will be filled with aircraft all on a mission to Cross the Ditch.

An example of that typical down-under understatement, this "ditch" is over 1100nm wide. The flight routes all range from two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half hours flight time.

Throughout the event, the Oceania region's two divisions -
and
- will be providing full ATC coverage, in the Southern Hemisphere's premiere oceanic event.

This is a great opportunity to experience Oceanic flying without the need to commit to an eight-hour flight!

If you're new to Oceanic Flying, our
makes taking part a breeze.

Event Times

This twenty hour event is timed to allow pilots from all over the world join the fun:

UTC: Saturday 18th May 2013 18:00 - Sunday 19th May 2013 14:00

AEST: Sunday 19th May 2013 04:00 - Monday 20th December 2013 00:00

NZST: Sunday 19th May 2013 06:00 - Monday 20th December 2013 02:00
